In this heartfelt prayer, we ask the Holy Spirit to produce His precious fruit in greater abundance in our lives - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We confess how too often we yield to the corrupt fruit of the sinful nature like anger, jealousy and lack of self-control instead of remaining rooted in Christ, the true vine. We invite the Holy Spirit to tend to the garden of our souls, nurturing love, joy, peace and all the beautiful fruit of the Spirit. We specifically ask the Spirit to increase patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness so we can be bright lights in this world. Above all, we desire gentleness and self-control to be manifested as we daily nail our flesh to the cross and walk in step with the Spirit.
