On Day 4 of our 9 Day Novena, we focus our prayer on hearing "The Spirit's Guiding Voice." In this prayer, we attune our spiritual ears to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit, the Good Shepherd who desires to lead and guide His sheep. We confess how the busyness of life can cause us to miss the intimacy of the Spirit's still, small voice amidst the noise and distractions. We acknowledge that from the very beginning, the Holy Spirit has spoken words of life, counsel and guidance to God's people. It is His voice that penetrates hearts, opens blinded eyes, and transforms lives. We position ourselves to pause and listen intentionally for the Holy Spirit calling us by name into deeper relationship. We ask the Spirit to take us by the hand and lead us beside still waters, being the lamp unto our feet, guiding our every step. We invite the Spirit to help us recognize His voice through Scripture, wise counsel, circumstances, visions and promptings. Our desire is to surrender doing "our own thing" and instead humbly follow our divine Shepherd wherever He leads.
